What is it?
Dental braces – also known as braces, orthodontic brackets and wires – are devices or accessories used in orthodontics for both cosmetic and structural corrections to the teeth.
Braces, which are sometimes used in conjunction with other orthodontic appliances as recommended by our dentists, are used to:
- align and straighten teeth, which will
- improve your bite and tooth position.
Far from being only an aesthetic procedure, straight teeth and proper palate expansion, which braces also play a key role in, are important for optimal overall dental health.
Why might you need it?
Dental braces are commonly used to correct issues like:
- malocclusions – imperfect positioning of the teeth when the jaws are closed,
- open bites,
- deep bites,
- cross bites,
- crooked teeth, and
- various other flaws of the teeth and jaw.
If you think you suffer from any of these – however minor – we can fit you for braces to fix the problem, no problem.
What can The Esthene Dental Centre do for you?
At The Esthene Dental Centre, we are highly experienced and qualified in fitting braces.
More than this, we fully believe in minimum intervention dentistry: we choose to fit dental braces for proper, gentle expansion of the palate and jaw to obtain optimum functional oral health rather than take the typical surgical approach of serial extractions which many dentists resort to.
We also believe in early childhood orthodontic intervention, using braces where indicated to gently guide and modify a child’s oral growth and development to achieve the best outcome. That said, we definitely won’t fit you, or your child, with braces unnecessarily.
