What is it?

Dental bridges (along with dental crowns) are specially built, fixed, non-removable artificial teeth, or prosthesis, which are used to:

• replace missing teeth (due to dental extractions or otherwise).

The teeth on either side of the space created by the missing tooth are used to attach the bridge to restore both functionality and aesthetics.

Materials used to build dental bridges are noble alloys, porcelain, or porcelain fused to metal.

Why might you need it?

Bridges are most commonly recommended whenever at least one tooth is missing.

If you’re missing a tooth, a bridge might be an excellent option to restore your smile to its original full-toothed state.

What can The Esthene Dental Centre do for you?

At The Esthene Dental Centre, we use the latest techniques and materials to construct dental bridges that perfectly match your other teeth.

When preparing your teeth for a bridge, first we take an impression of the teeth in the affected area and send the impression to a dental laboratory to fabricate the bridge. Your bridge is composed of abutments and pontics:

• Abutments are the supports for the bridge and consist of crowns placed on the teeth surrounding the empty space;
• Pontics are special crowns that span across the empty space and connect to the abutments.

While your permanent bridge is being created at the laboratory, we will also make a temporary bridge to place on the teeth to protect them and maintain their position until your new bridge is ready for placement.

Once we receive your custom-made dental bridge back from the laboratory, we call you back in for an appointment where we try it on for size! Our dentists will fit your new bridge to ensure a comfortable, seamless fit. Once we, and you, are happy with the fit and feel, the bridge is cemented into place.
