What is it?
Dental crowns – also called caps – are used to restore teeth that have been broken or are at high risk of doing so due to decaying fillings or fractures.
Crowns, which look and feel similar to your real teeth, fit seamlessly over injured, discoloured, or cracked teeth to protect them from further damage.
Crowns are typically constructed from noble alloys or porcelain.
Why might you need it?
Crowns are normally recommended when a significant portion of a tooth is missing.
Crowns are also frequently recommended when the following are present in the mouth:
- extensive tooth decay,
- injury to teeth, or
- as part of root canal therapy.
What can The Esthene Dental Centre do for you?
At The Esthene Dental Centre we work tirelessly to ensure that any recommended crowns fit seamlessly and are a perfect match for an almost invisible fix.
After an initial consultation and assessment, and once crowns have been recommended as a fix to your dental situation, we move on to preparing your teeth for the crown fitting procedure.
During your first visit, our dentists will carefully prepare your tooth structure for the crown. We will then take an impression of the prepared tooth, and send the impression to a dental laboratory to fabricate your customized crown. Before you leave our offices, we make and fit you with a temporary crown to place on the affected tooth to prevent further damage until your permanent crown is ready.
Once we receive your custom-made dental crown back from the laboratory, we call you back in to try the crown for size to ensure a seamless, comfortable fit. Once we, and you, are happy with the fit and feel, we cement your new crown into place.
Once the procedure is completed by our expert dentists, the crown will blend seamlessly with your teeth for both flawless aesthetics and renewed strength required for daily oral function and health.
