What is it?
Teeth whitening is a procedure designed to:
- lighten the shade of your teeth, and
- remove staining or discoloration, caused by
- medications, or
- diet and lifestyle factors such as drinking coffee, tea, wine, or using tobacco products.
Teeth whitening can be done at home or in the dental office.
Note: Even the most professionally performed tooth whitening will not last forever. The procedure will have to be repeated on a regular basis to maintain the desired coloration.
Why might you need it?
Are you unhappy with the colour of your teeth?
Have you noticed unsightly spots on your teeth which bother you?
Tooth whitening is a much-used, completely safe procedure, designed to have you smiling from ear to ear once again, completely confident in your pearly whites.
Note: both in-office and in-home tooth-whitening procedures can cause increased tooth sensitivity. This is a common side effect and usually subsides a few hours to days after treatment. Whitening procedures should be avoided if you are pregnant.
What can The Esthene Dental Centre do for you?
At The Esthene Dental Centre, our in-office teeth whitening treatment can brighten your teeth by six to 10 shades.
Using a special, light-activated whitening gel (which ordinarily contains hydrogen peroxide), our teeth whitening procedure offers a quick and convenient way to achieve the smile you’ve always wanted.
Our dentists start by taking a photo of your existing tooth colour before applying the gel, in order to monitor your progress and compare the new lighter shade of your teeth throughout treatment. We then apply the gel over a series of appointments: in-office whitening takes between 30 to 90 minutes to complete (depending on the shade required), which requires a few visits to achieve the desired colour.
We also offer in-home teeth whitening options to allow you to perform the procedure in your own time.
For in-home whitening, our dentists will take an impression of your teeth and then make custom dental trays to perfectly fit your teeth. You will then be sent home with your custom-made tray, along with a supply of bleaching gel (usually containing hydrogen peroxide), and instructions on how to apply the gel and tray to the teeth, how much gel to apply, and how long to keep the tray in your mouth. It is important to follow our instructions to the letter to avoid gum irritation.
Stop hiding your smile! Our teeth whitening procedures are easy, painless, and guaranteed to make you smile!
